Targeted Local Hire

Created by a memorandum of understanding between unions that represent city workers and the City of Los Angeles, Targeted Local Hire is a jobs program that seeks to place the most marginalized Angelinos into stable city jobs by equitably hiring from our Black communities.

Since its inception in 2016, over 700 employees have been hired into public sector jobs.  Nearly 34% of those hired are Black according to the city, but the rate at which Black workers are being hired is not nearly enough to make a measurable difference in our current economic crisis.

Los Angeles cannot afford to cut this program.

Our leaders need to invest in opportunities
for Black families to achieve prosperity.
